Stacey Heichberger, Director

I am thrilled to be the director at Providence Church Preschool!  Originally from Charleston, SC, I grew up as a military child and found myself living all over the USA.  One of my earliest memories as a child was pretending to be an educator while playing school on my grandmother's blackboard.  I made my dream come true, and have a BA in early childhood education from Wittenberg University, and I've completed early childhood education graduate courses from Central Michigan University.  In my eight years as an educator, I've taught kindergarten and preschool classes.  Early childhood education has always been a passion of mine, especially at the preschool level.  I love the daily integration of the arts within the classroom, and am an avid believer in using a hands-on learning approach in education.  I am a proud mother of two children; my daughter, Aubrey, is seven years old, and my son, Ethan, is five.  When not working, I enjoy time with my family, playing outdoors, spending time at the beach, reading books, crafting, sewing, and working on my new-found hobby of gardening!  My vision for PCP is that it will continue to be a program that lovingly encourages and teaches children in the tender years before Kindergarten, and that it fills them with God’s love. I look forward to getting to know all of the wonderful PCP families this coming year!

Janet Tinkel, 5 day Fours Lead Teacher

I am so blessed to be able to teach at PCP. My belief is that each child is special and unique with various talents and skills. My goal is to help develop each child’s individuality by providing them with a fun, positive and nurturing environment!

Prior to PCP I taught Pre-K at a private preschool in Pennsylvania for nine years. I also have previous experience with the three-year-old program and kindergarten as well. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. My membership with The National Association of Education for Young Children (naeyc) is currently in excellent standing. I am passionate about my job and want to foster a love of learning in all my students.

My husband, Scott, and I moved to Daniel Island in July 2016. We really enjoy living here and are comfortable calling it home. We have two grown children who are such joys in my life. In my spare time I enjoy being outside hiking or bike riding. I also enjoy traveling whenever I can, reading and spending time at the beach!

I appreciate everyone trusting me with their most precious gift…their children. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Kara Cira, 4 Day Fours Lead Teacher

Hi, my name is Kara! I grew up in Chicago and earned my degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. While growing up, I babysat and was a nanny for many families. I have also been a lead teacher in infant and toddler rooms at many daycare facilities. This will be my 7th year teaching 4K at PCP. I enjoy being able to teach my students with a hands-on learning approach. I love seeing their creativity and watching their growth throughout the year.

My family moved to South Carolina 9 years ago. My husband and I have three children. My son, Frank is 12, my daughter, Madelyn is 9, and my son, James is 4. We love it here! Some of my favorite things to do are: scrapbooking, reading, and spending time with my family at the beach. I am so excited for this next school year and look forward to working with you and your children. We will have so much fun!

Skylar Connor, Fours Teacher Assistant

Hi, my name is Skylar!  I'm originally from a little town in Georgia.  I babysat for many families in my church while growing up.  I moved to Charleston after graduating high school, and I met my husband shortly after!  We have two amazing kids, Emma Grace is 12, and Ian is 11.  I've also been a nanny for the last six years to a previous PCP family here on DI.

I knew from a very early age that I wanted to pursue a career in education.  This year will be my seventh year as a teacher's assistant here at Providence.  I've been a teacher's assistant for the 2's, 3's, and 4's.  At this age, children learn best when they are having fun.  We get to create an entertaining, engaging, and creative classroom that promotes learning as well as social, cognitive, and emotional development.  Mrs. Kara and I can't wait to watch your children grow this year, and we are so excited to teach them!  We can't wait to meet you all!

Caty Osborne, Fours Teacher Assistant

Hello Families! My name is Caty Osborne and I'm thrilled to enter my second year at Providence!

I grew up in the small town of Butler, Kentucky with my parents and two younger brothers. Growing up I was active in baseball, softball and volleyball. In high school I took every childcare class possible, because I knew working with children was something I would always want to do. I graduated from college with my Associates in Early Childhood Education, and from there I worked at an after school program and also taught one-year-olds for several years.

I moved to Charleston 6 years ago to be a nanny! I take care of a 6 and 4 year old and it is SO MUCH FUN! I have loved being able to watch them grow from infants to the amazing kids they are today!!

When I'm not nannying or teaching I enjoy fishing, reading, or walking around the Island. I'm so excited to see what this school year as planned for us!!  See you all soon.
